TeamSpeak Wiki: Advantages and disadvantages of a rented TeamSpeak Server
If you are looking for a TS3 server, you will come across free and paid offers. Basically we recommend to rent the TeamSpeak servers at a Teamspeak Hoster.Advantages rental server:
- All important details (number of slots, availability, running time, etc.) are contractually fixed.
- The server is not expected to go offline because someone has not paid the hosting bill or the root server has been hacked.
- You dont have to write an application, a clan page or a certain number of clan members to get a server.
- The server can be empty all day long and nobody is bothered by it.
- There is a support (at least ticket system, ideally also by telephone)
- For some hosters, the TS server is available within a few minutes, mostly when using PayPal or credit card (the amount will be credited to the provider immediately; transfers may take several days).
- Costs money, although not really much, which could be a problem for students, for example.
- It might be difficult to get servers with certain mods or special settings. Private / free hosters are sometimes more flexible.
- File transfers and storage space are often limited (but sufficient!). - you will have to see how this is handled by the respective hoster)
- A current account, credit card, PayPal account or similar is required to pay the rent. You must be 18. Exceptions are providers where you can pay by Paysafcard.
